Mr. Arpin

Alinon Arpin grew up in Ennis, Montana, and received his teaching degree from the University of Montana. After college, he student taught in Portland, Oregon, and then moved to Asheville, North Carolina, where he was a substitute teacher and ran an after school activities program. In 2008, he joined the Peace Corps and served two years in Malawi, Africa. After Peace Corps, he returned home to Ennis, where he met his wife, Kate, and worked in the Special Education room for four years. The couple then took a break from Ennis and spent several months in Mexico in 2014, followed by 5 months in Nogales, Arizona, where Alinon taught 4th grade.
 
Alinon brings both a Montana upbringing and a diverse set of teaching experiences to the W.F. Morrison 6th grade. He is an enthusiastic, creative teacher, and strives to teach his students to be not just academic, but involved and responsible community members. Kate and Alinon are excited to get to know Troy and explore the forests of Northwest Montana.

My name is Sue Coleman and I have been working for the Troy School District for five years. I have many years of teaching experience in both elementary education and special education. Prior to moving to Troy, I taught on the Blackfeet Reservation for sixteen years while running a Glacier Park tourist business. My family made the move to Troy when we purchased the Kootenai River Campground.  I now run the campground with the assistance of both of my sons and their wives. When not working I enjoy hiking, birding, and baking.

When I was young I grew up in Troy and attended Morrison Elementary, Troy Junior High and High School. After graduating I attended MSU-Billings where I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Educaton with a Minor in Early Childhood Development. In 2013 I earned a Master's Degree in K-12 Studies from Capella University. My husband and I moved to Troy in 2004 so our son and daughter could grow up closer to their grandparents. I have worked at Morrison Elementary since 2005 and enjoy each year. My family enjoys traveling, so we pick a place to visit each year, sometimes close and sometimes far.

My name is Amelia Downey.  I grew up in Troy and graduated high school here in 1995. I attended Eastern Washington University in 1995-1996, and received my bachelor’s degree in education from MSU-Billings in 2000.  I also received my Masters in Educational Administration in 2014 from Capella University.


I have taught in Troy for the last 14 years.  I taught 2 years of Title I, 2 years of first grade, 3 years of sixth grade, and am currently teaching my 8th year of fourth grade.


I have been married for 18 years and have 3 wonderful children who keep me busy with their involvement in activities. When I am not attending activities for my children, I enjoy spending time reading a good book.

After earning a B.S. in education from Eastern Montana College in 1981, I began my career teaching 3rd grade in Miles City, Montana. Three years later, in 1984, my husband and I moved to Forest Grove, Oregon where I taught grades 1st and 2nd for the next 15 years. While there I obtained my Master's degreee and reading endorsement from Linfield College in McMinnville, Oregon. In 1998, my family moved to Troy (my husband's hometown). Here I have taught Title I, Kindergarten and 1st grade. 

I have been married 34 years and have one son, Shado. Traveling and learning about people and their culture are important to me. I enjoy sharing my experiences with students. Gardening, working outdoors with Steve, painting and stained glass are among my favorite hobbies. I am passionate about teaching and hope to instill that same passion and love for learning in my students. My goal in life is to become a better person and to bring out the best in others.

My name is Kyla Grose and I am currently in my 5th year of teaching in Troy.  This year marks my 4th year of teaching second grade.  I graduated with an Elementary Education Bachelors of Arts degree from Carroll College in 2008 (Go Saints!).  In my spare time I enjoy watching baseball, bowling on Tuesday nights, visiting my family in Butte, and traveling the friendly skies to new cities with old friends.

I went to college in Billings, Montana at Montana State University-Billings.  I  and graduated from Billings with a degree in Elementary Education and Special Education.  I then pursued a Masters of Education in Counseling I received this degree from Montana State University Northern in Havre, Montana. I love to learn that is why I chose a career in education.

After graduating from the Western Montana College, I began my teaching career in Noxon, Montana. Two years later, my husband and I moved to Libby were I had the wonderful experience of teaching in the classroom for 32 years. During the course of my teaching career, I have taught 2nd through 6th grades and as an elementary music specialist. This is my second year as principal at W.F. Morrison. Currently, I am enrolled in the University of Montana's Educational Leadership program and the Montana Board of Public Education's Administrative Interrnship Program.

As a principal, I strive to work with staff, students and the community in a positive and proactive manner.

I am the Troy Public School's K-12 Music Teacher. I am teaching all bands, choirs, and general music classes in the K-12 schools. I moved out to Troy from Curtis, Michigan, a small town in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. I graduated at Northern Michigan University with a Bachelor's of Music Education. In my free time, I give private instrument and voice lessons, and also participate in many outdoor activities such as hiking, skiing, biking and golfing. I love teaching my passion of music and hope that it becomes the passion of many students.
